A Touch of Tangerine Tango

I love all the color I’m seeing at the mall this spring! Red, green, blue, yellow, but the biggest color story is orange – just as Pantone predicted! They had announced Tangerine Tango as the 2012 color of the year.

Interior design trends are reflected by the styles on the fashion runway. Did I get this backwards?  Anyway, these are the concerns I often hear about color: What if I get tired of the color? What if it becomes too trendy? As a rule of thumb, if you loved the color before it became popular – don’t worry, go for it. If you have just recently fallen for this fabulous fun color – try the approach shown below:

Neutral furnishings

Keep your major furniture pieces in neutral colors.

Add accents of color in the accessories. It doesn’t take that much to make a color statement. In the example above, I brought in orange drapes, pillows and flowers. You could go green next month, if you felt like it!

Check out Olioboard for where to buy the furnishings in my “virtual room” – love this website!
